Who it's for

Two homes, one Europe

Swedes in Spain, Germans in Portugal, Dutch citizens in Spain, Belgians in France, retirees splitting the year. Free movement, but the 183-day tax line still matters.

Visitors from outside the EU

British, American, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand passport holders who need to stay on the right side of the Schengen 90/180 rule.

Common questions

Do arrival and departure days count?

Yes. Border authorities count both the day you enter and the day you leave the Schengen area. EuroPlanner counts the same way, so the number you see matches the one at the border.

What is the rolling 180-day window?

The 90/180 rule never resets on a fixed date. On any given day, border control looks back 180 days and counts your Schengen days in that window. EuroPlanner recalculates that window for today, and for future dates you're planning.

Does the 90/180 rule apply to EU citizens?

No. EU, EEA and Swiss passport holders have free movement. The app detects this from your passport country and instead focuses on the 183-day tax residency thresholds, which apply to everyone.

What happens at 183 days?

Spending 183 days or more in a country within a calendar year often makes you a tax resident there. Countries apply extra tests — permanent home, centre of economic interest — so treat the tracker as an early warning, not a verdict.
